Dawn is a motivational speaker for middle and high schools throughout Florida and the country. Speaking from her heart and history, she connects with students from all backgrounds. Having survived poverty, neglect, violence and being bullied as a young child, Dawn shows struggling teens how to overcome obstacles, discover their own gifts and talents, and how make their hopes and dreams a reality. Her presentations are dynamic, highly interactive and down-to-earth. Her topics include:

Dawn's presentations have made front page news in cities across the country. She has appeared in the Buffalo News, the Connecticut Post, the Sherman Times, Cheektowaga Times, the South Florida Sun Sentinel and the Palm Beach Post. In 2001 Dawn was featured in a study for the popular news program DatelineNBC which addressed how attitude and appearance affects our treatment in society.
Dawn works with local and national organizations including: Child Lures Prevention, Hugs for Kids, Childsplace at Homesafe, the Miami Crisis Center, Women for Women International, the Milagro Center, the Boynton Beach Senior Center, the National Conference for Community and Justice, and the American Cancer Society.
Dawn is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy of NYC. She is a former Ms. Florida and Ms. United States 2006-2007. She has appeared in episodes of Law and Order and Sex and the City as well as in countless local and national commercials.
When Dawn isn't touring the country as a motivational speaker for teens, she performs with her band "The Dawn Basham Trio" for weddings, parties, and corporate events. She can also be found performing regularly at the Delray Beach Marriott. Dawn sings everything from jazz standards from the Great American Songbook to dance music.
